Yesterday we joined over 60 pet professionals for the Long Island Pet Professionals Holiday Party at the Marriott in Plainview NY. Nancy Hassel, organizer greeted us with a big smile and a really nice goodie bag as we settled in and mingled with the folks. The attendee list included local pet care owners, trainers, and non for profit groups such as the Long Island Dog Owners Group, who supports dog runs/parks on Long Island. We grabbed a drink and a plate of food and chatted not only about what we do for a living, but our own furry paw companions and their stories. Before we knew it, it was time for some announcements, a little happy birthday singing in honor of Nancy’s birthday and then the raffle prizes were awarded. There were many great moments of the evening, but the one that was truly amazing was when we glanced over to see all the pet food that was donated to the local charity, Rock Can Roll. We found out today in Nancy’s thank you for attending email, that they collected 130 items which came out to over 300lbs!!!!!Cheers and Happy Holidays to all the folks on Long Island who take good care of and appreciate our precious furry paw pet friends.

This past Sunday FPPP was at Doggie U in Bay Shore, Long Island along with a great group of other vendors including pet adoption/care organizations: Tavi and Friends,  A Home at Last, and Forgotten Friends, for a Holiday Festival.

These folks volunteer their time year round to help pets (dogs, cats and feral cats) in need of shelter and food in foster homes, ultimately promoting adoption when they can. I am told they even build makeshift homes for the feral cats to keep warm during the winter months.

It is important in my mind to bring awareness to these groups as there are so many pets in need of good homes. Many are pure bred, many are housebroken and in need of a good family.

So while some families stopped by to see the crafts, dog coats, homemade Giants and Jets dog bandanas and booths offering cupcakes (both for human and dogs) .

And while we brought smiles to the already pet owners faces…

We all brought awareness to the groups in need.

There are even specific breed groups out there such as Russell Refuge where we adopted our Jack Russell, Jakey.

Humbling to be a part of a great community of folks.

Great Day at DogTown Day Care
Thanks to Rebecca, Anthony and family for hosting a great Halloween Doggie Party. We met some great folks with their pets all dressed up for the holiday. Amongst a lobster, ice cream sundae, spider man and a shark, we had the pleasure of meeting this little guy dressed up as a clown.
Happy Howleen!

Great times at Fetch’s Halloween Parade 2010. We were glad to be a part of the festivities. No bobbing for apples though. :)

This Sunday was a day of rest for FPPP. So my wife grabbed her camera and we took off to agility held by Pat Weiss in Huntington right off of Route 110. It was Jakey’s (our younger tri-colored Jack) first shot at agility and boy did he have fun. Up until his sister Jackie was getting a little too anxious and jumped onto table with him so she could get her treat too! It’s a competitive Korol family.
